A lot of people are wondering how to start network marketing. They have heard the bad stories. They have heard the good stories. They have met people who have failed miserably. They have met people who have been wildly successful. And now, they are wondering how to start network marketing so they can find out for themselves.
The first piece of advice I would give is to do your research. You are making a business decision. Make sure you are looking at actual businesses with real products and services to offer. You don’t want a “money game”. You want something you can actually present to a friend or family member knowing it will be of real value to them. When you build a real network marketing business, the income can be passed on to future generations. Make sure you pick a real business that will be here for years to come.
Be prepared to learn. If you have never been involved with network marketing before, there will be a lot to learn. New terminology, new concepts, etc…
Be prepared to work. Remember: You are wanting to learn how to start netWORK marketing. Network marketing is a business that requires work. Depending on your current schedule and situation, you will most likely be adding more work hours t your week. Your network marketing business will be the thing you work on after your regular work day is done, on the weekends, etc…
One way to get started is by clicking any of the ads on this blog that you find interesting. When you click an ad that captures your interest, you should see a form you can use to request more information. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Get to know the person sending you the information. You will most likely be communicating with them quite a bit throughout your journey. You want to make sure they will be responsive and willing to answer questions or at least show you where the answers can be found.

Thanks for the “reminder.” Research is key especially when STARTING ANY new business opportunity. Too many people play those “money games” looking for quick-easy cash. I’ve done so myself for the first few years online and all I got was trouble, frustration, aggravation and a clawback bill that I’m still paying off. So no more money games, hyips ( High Yield Investment Programs ), nor will I get sucked into the current bitcoin hype. I Only involve myself in business opportunities that I believe offer honest value/products and that I can attest to being beneficial to myself and/or others in some way.
I will usually phone the CEO to speak with him/her myself to validate the business and owner is real and after our conversation(s) I will choose whether to be a part of the company or not.
There are at least 2 primary forms of Network Marketing. The first is Multi-Level Marketing (a.k.a., MLM) and the second is what I call Referral Marketing. I distinguish the 2 based on the way products are handled.
In MLM, a distributor gets customers and orders, and passes them up to their sponsor or closest upline Direct Distributor (or whatever the program calls the person with enough business that it allows them to order directly from the manufacturere). An MLM’er then receives the products, delivers them to customers and collects payments. He also has to deal with any returns as well.
MLM programs are a LOT of work! And if you are trying to build a network (where the real money is), you have to recruit as well … which is even more work.
For these reasons and nefarious MLM practices in the past, Network Marketing has gotten a bad reputation.
This is why I call what The Online Ad Network (TOAN) does … Referral Marketing. Referral Marketing is where you earn a recurring commission for referring others to join. You don’t have to handle any products, meet with or deliver to customers, deal with returns, or collect any payments. All you do is use the referral marketing products or services yourself and suggest others join as well. For online services (such as TOAN), you focus most of your efforts on online advertising and marketing which is ultimately more convenient than offline recruiting.
In my experience, the distinction between MLM and Referral Marketing is incredibly important.
Once you make a choice between the 2 types of Network Marketing, your next step (before joining) is to determine how you can build your network. What is your angle? … What makes you unique? …. Why would someone join through you rather than 1000’s of other representatives?
This consideration has made all the difference in my referrals for both Trafficwave and The Online Ad Network. I built a marketing system to help my referrals find referrals.
