Straight Talk About How Money Gets Made with TOAN
You’re a network marketer. You may be just starting out. You may be a seasoned pro. You may be somewhere in between. But one thing you have in common with every other network marketer is:
You Want To Make More Money in Network Marketing!
This post is designed to help you cut through the junk and get right to the heart of how money is actually made at The Online Ad Network.
Before we get started: PUT YOUR BUSINESS HAT ON!
This isn’t net”luck” marketing.
This isn’t net”gift” marketing.
This isn’t even net”group” marketing.
Be prepared to WORK to CREATE your success.
What this post is NOT going to be about is how to wait for someone else to give you spillover, how to get lucky by joining some “program” at “just the right time” or any of that nonsense.
This post is about how YOU can take CONTROL over your life and income and begin CREATING Your SUCCESS.
Are You Ready?
There are just 2 phases for you to concern yourself with. They are:
Let’s start with Phase 1: Get Your Ads for FREE:
How do you do this? The short answer is:
Get 3 new referrals on your first level in our 3×10 Matrix.
The longer answer includes HOW you do that.
You are already involved with network marketing. (That’s why you’re here). So you already know a LOT of people that want to make more money in network marketing.
Invite them to your Affiliate URL to show them how they can advertise their products, services, and opportunity to targeted interested prospects worldwide by joining The Online Ad Network with you.
They can be in the same network marketing company as you or in a completely different network marketing company. It doesn’t matter!
When you have 3 new advertisers on your first level in The Online Ad Network, you are earning $20.25 per month. Since your monthly advertising costs are $19.95 per month, you have reached “break even” and you are effectively getting free advertising for your own ads!

| Level 1: |
|
|
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
(Note: Your advertising expense may be tax deductible! Consult your tax professional).
Now let’s look at Phase 2: Get In To Profit.
This is so simple it’s ridiculous! Show those 3 referrals on your first level how to do what you just did so THEY can complete Phase 1 for themselves.
When they do, 2 things happen:
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| / | | | \ | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Level 1: |

By following this simple pattern and helping your referrals do the same, your downline can continue to grow while your ads are promoting your primary opportunity.
And yes … you can even run ads to promote your Affiliate URL for The Online Ad Network.
Take a moment to really catch the power of this simple formula:
If you personally never referred another advertiser but showed your team how to follow this plan so that each referral just brought in 3 per month, your income would be astronomical by the end of your first year.
Example:
Let’s take just a moment for a bit of a reality check. Most people in network marketing probably would be VERY happy seeing a $120 per month income from their advertising program!
If you stopped right there, that would be a solid accomplishment, right? You’re running free ads and you’re putting some nice extra cash in your pocket each month. Not bad for a little online text ad system!
But what if you are a real go-getter and you really motivate and support your referrals to keep this plan in action? What is possible?
I’m going to stop right there. More income is certainly available through the 3×10 matrix. If you are the kind of motivated achiever that can excel, refer new advertisers, and train your referrals to do the same, your income can quickly reach in to the 5 figures per month range.
These examples are designed to give you an idea of what is possible for you.
Just look at what is possible if all you do is personally refer 3, teach them to refer 3, and the pattern continues!
This allows you to keep your focus on your primary business(es) while building an additional income stream with The Online Ad Network.
I realize there are a lot of “groups” and various concepts that promise the moon, tell you they will build your business for you, and so on.
It’s time to get serious: If you want to make real money in network marketing, it’s time to start treating your business like a business. Take responsibility for your own success. Invite your network marketing associates, uplines, and downlines, to view your Affiliate URL.
Start by getting your first level filled.
Then get in to profit. How far you want to take it from there is completely up to you!
Yours in Success,
Brian Rooney

What We Actually Get PAID To Do
Job descriptions.
Most of us have at least one. It may not be accurate or even updated but chances are that if you are working a regular job, you have some sort of job description.
A job description is good because it lets you know what you are supposed to be doing once you show up at work. It also lets your boss or supervisor know what it is they need you for.
The challenge that I see in network marketing today is that far too many of us have no idea what our actual job description is.
When I say “job description” in network marketing, what I really mean is:
What Do You Actually Get Paid To Do?
Before we get in to what your actual job description is, we may need to take a look at what our job description is NOT.
The cold reality is that none of us gets paid to do any of those things but a lot of network marketers will tell you that this is what they are doing in hopes of somehow making money in their mlm business.
Nope. When it comes right down to it, your network marketing company pays you to do one thing (and ONLY one thing).
Your network marketing job description is:
To Get Prospects To Make a Decision About
Buying Your Products or Joining Your Opportunity.
That’s it. There is nothing more to it.
That doesn’t mean that you won’t or can’t make some great friends along the way. It doesn’t mean that you can’t use online systems or networks like facebook along the way.
I’ve used facebook and other social networking sites to get new prospects for years. But my goal and focus is always the same: Using the technology to get prospects to make a decision about buying my products and/or joining my opportunity.
Social networking sites can be great tools.
Technology like AutoResponders can be great tools.
Doing presentations can be a great way to build your business.
Just remember that when you are doing these activities, if you aren’t actually getting your prospects to make a decision about purchasing from you or joining your opportunity, you aren’t actually working on growing your business.
In an upcoming post, we’ll talk about how to streamline your actions to make sure you are always focused on what you actually DO as a network marketing professional to make some money!
What’s The Big Deal With Network Marketing and MLM?
Let me start by being very clear about something before we get started on the controversial subject matter of Network Marketing.
There is no such thing as a “Network Marketing Company”. Network Marketing, or Multi-Level Marketing is not an industry or business in and of itself.
Network Marketing is really a distribution method being used by many companies in a variety of industries.
There are companies that offer services such as Web Hosting, Telecommuncations, Nutritional Products, Beverages, etc… and they use a network marketing or multi-level distribution method to gather new customers.
Network Marketing as a means of income generation has been endorsed by celebrities such as Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, Robert Allen, Mark Victor Hanson, T Harv Ecker, James Ray, and more.
Still, some people would rather announce that they have a communicable disease than admit to being involved in network marketing.
Network Marketing (also known as Multi-Level Marketing) is a marketing method used by many companies to promote their products and/or services to the public.
Legitimate network marketing involves the actual sale of real products and services to end users. To be clear, there is a profound difference between legitimate network marketing companies. This article isn’t intended to provide a full dissertation on the differences but one solid test is to simply ask, “Would I buy this product or service if there wasn’t some sort of ‘income opportunity’ attached?”
In other words, if you never made a dime from selling the product or service itself, would you still be happy with the product or service you purchased?
Fortunately, there are many companies where customers are able to answer this question with a resounding “yes”. And there are individuals who are also able to develop significant income using the network marketing or mlm approach to sales and distribution.
So why do so many people react negatively to network marketing and mlm?
Could it be the pyramid structure of the compensation plan? That wouldn’t make sense. It is pretty difficult to find a company today that doesn’t use some sort of multi-tiered (yes … multi-level) compensation structure. Virtually every large sales organization in the world utilizes some sort of multiple level pay plan. Sales people earn commissons on their own sales. Sales managers get paid overrides and commissions from the sales generated by their sales team. Sales directors get paid on top of that. Then the VP’s, upper level managers, CEO, etc… all get paid based on those same sales.
Look at the organizational chart of virtually any large business and you will see a similar “pyramid” type structure to the company. The US Government itself could be described as a pyramid type structure when viewed as a whole.
Maybe people take a negative view of network marketing and mlm because they have to pay to be involved. But that doesn’t really make sense, either. Any standard franchising model requires franchisees to pay the franchise home office before they can go in to business. And when you compare the typical start-up costs for a franchise and any network marketing or mlm plan, you’re talking about maybe a few hundred dollars as compared to tens of thousands or even millions of dollars.
No doubt there are plenty of illegal ponzi schemes operating in the name of network marketing or mlm but that doesn’t mean that all businesses that utilize this approach are illegal. Companies such as Amway, Melaleuca, PrePaid Legal have all built solid businesses by selling their products and services to end users, many who are simply customers without any interest in the opportunity itself.
Personally, I am a customer of a number of companies that adopt the network marketing or mlm approach. With some of them, I have referred a few other customers and I earn a commission. With some, I don’t refer anyone or earn anything but I have been a long-time customer because I truly benefit and/or enjoy the products or services offered.
When we look at it objectively, the problem with network marketing or mlm may be more of a percepton issue than anything else. And if that is the case, we have to examine where the perception comes from.
When you view network marketing objectively, it’s really sort of a “micro-franchise” set up where you are able to go in to business for yourself for a very low cost of entry. The potential to develop considerably high income levels is definitely present and there are people who achieve amazing, almost fairy tale levels of, income.
Perhaps the problem with how network marketing or mlm is perceived is that it can often attract individuals who are not qualified or prepared to be business owners. These sorts of people tend to…
As a result, these people tend to tarnish the overall reputations and credibility of those entrepreneurs who do understand that network marketing success relies on the knowledge and application of solid business principles and a level of professionalism.
Network marketing is, in my own opinion, a great opportunity for motivated individuals to quickly and inexpensively start their own business. The key is to recognize it for what it is: a business model that will require discipline, training, and focus.
The expectation that simply joining any opportunity is going to create wealth is ridiculous. Joining any given company that offers a network marketing opportunity is nothing more than a step toward opening your own business. To succeed, you will be required to learn about your product or service line, be trained in how to present your products and servces, learn basic business and sales principles, and be prepared to work.
In essence, treat any network marketing opportunity you may join as a small business. Act like a business owner. Then you can expect to be treated like a business owner.
Anyone who has been involved with MLM Opportunities for any length of time quickly realizes that one of the most critical elements of success is having people to talk to about your business opportunity, product, or service.
The “Friends and Family” routine quickly shows you that there is no faster way to join the NFL (No Friends Left) club! Before you know it, friends aren’t taking your calls, family stops visiting (which may be a good thing) and relationships become strained.
But just like you were able to recognize a powerful opportunity when you joined your MLM business, there are other people out there just like you that are looking for a way to escape the 9 to 5 and build an alternate source of income. So how do you find them?
There are any number of companies available that will offer to seel you leads lists. The problem with most of these so-called “fresh” lists is that they have been sold several times to many different people and a large percentage of them will not even remembering asking for information on any mlm opportunieis (if they ever did make such a request).
Buying leads lists can quickly drain your wallet and the whole point of getting involved with your MLM business was to put money IN your pocket, right?
The key to MLM success is to create a variety of situations where people are coming to you asking for more information about your business opportunity.
To get the most Targeted MLM Leads available, many MLM professionals spend their resources on advertising and promotion rather than buying mlm leads lists.
When someone sees your ad and they respond by asking for more information, that is the absolute best targeted mlm lead you will ever find.
Advertising options include Online Classified Ads, Social Networking such as Twitter or Facebook, Blogging, building and promoting your own web site, search engine optimization, ppc (Pay Per Click) advertising such as Google Ad Words, direct mail, and more.
Your options will depend on your available resources. You may want to start out with some of the low cost options and build as your MLM income increases.
Which would you rather do:
Keep working up the courage to approach friends, family members, and strangers about your mlm opportunity…
or …
Have people coming to you and ASKING for more information?
If you have the kind of personality that can talk to anyone, it may not matter. But if you are like most people, it is much easier when the prospects come to you!

Network marketing, Multi-Level marketing, MLM … these are all names used to describe a marketing structure used by companies as a part of their overall marketing strategy.
The idea behind network marketing is to allow companies to generate sales by rewarding independent distributors for the sales they generate as well as the sales generated by other distributors they may refer to the company.
The heirarchy that results from this type of sales team structure results in multiple levels of sales reps.
These sales reps are typically independent contractors. They may be referred to as distributors, associates, dealers, consultants, etc… Their primary focus should always be to represent the company that provides the products or services being sold. These sales reprs are paid commissions based on the sales they personally generate as well as the sales generated throughout their sales team.
Typically, sales reps begin developing a customer base of individuals who will purchase the products or services directly from the company. The company handles all sales orders, tracking, deliverables, acounting, etc… Sales reps can also purchase product directly from the company and sell for retail profits to local consumers or users.
Network marketing provides an opportunity for individuals to start their own business for a relatively low cost of entry. Compared to traditional business start-up costs such as franchising or opening an brick and morter store, the cost of starting your own mlm business is virtually nothing.
The key to success in network marketing is for the serious entrepreneur to do their research thoroughly to pick a solid company with products for which there is a proven market already in existence. It is then up to that serious entrepreneur to research and apply sales strategies and techniques that will lead to their success.
This site is presented as a free resource to help established network marketing professionals and those just curious about mlm to research options, strategies, resources, and perhaps even find that next great opportunity.
(You just don’t get paid for it … yet).
Have you ever …
… told a friend about a movie you liked?
… advised someone on where to have dinner?
… recommended a good book?
… sent a web site link to a friend?
We all have. Every single one of us has recommended some sort of offer to friends of ours. We do it every single day.
At the office, you might say something like:
“Let’s have lunch at this great burger place today.”
“You have got to see this amazing movie!”
“Did you buy that new xBox game, yet? It ROCKS!”
“I’m reading this awesome book. You should check it out.”
Businesses refer to this as “word of mouth marketing” and they know that it can be one of the best ways to create “buzz” about their product or service.
They HOPE you will tell your network of friends and associates about your great experience and then recommend it so that your friends will buy, too.
And when you do refer those friends and those friends spend money, these same companies won’t even send you a thank-you card, much less a piece of the revenue generated by your referral.
You are participating in “word of mouth marketing” by sharing your opinions and recommendations with your “network” of friends and associates.
Like it or not: You are involved in Network Marketing … for free!
I am a semi-pro musician, meaning I make a little money playing music part-time.
A couple years ago, I pulled in to a Starbucks with a band I was playing with.
As we stepped up to order coffee, the keyboard player whipped out a black card and handed it to the barista with his credit card. When the barista charged him for the order, he said, “… and with your discount, your total comes to …. ”
“Whoa!”, I exclaimed. “Share. What’s with the black card and the discount?”
(Because we all know that Starbucks coffee is EXPENSIVE!)
He turned to me and quickly explained that for $25 a year, I can get discounts on all my orders, a free coffee on my birthday, and some other nice stuff that I can’t remember.
I quickly bought a black card. I loved Starbucks and I knew that the savings were going to quickly cover that $25. It just made sense to me.
How much money did the keyboard player receive when I bought the card?
Not a single penny. The guy behind the counter didn’t even thank him for referring me! He could have at least said “Thanks for the new business!”
My buddy just used “network marketing” to recommend me. And got NOTHING.
Since that time, I’ve found a coffee company that offers a product I personally enjoy more than Starbucks AND it offers some health benefits. They also like to take advantage of word of mouth marketing and I make a point of recommending this particular coffee product to my network of friends.
Most of the time, they like the coffee.
(Many like it better than the brand they’ve been drinking for years).
Then they find out that the coffee may actually have some health benefits.
And when they find out that they can actually SAVE money by buying this coffee…
They usually buy the coffee.
Guess what the company does …
They send me a commission check every time somebody I refer buys the coffee.
I guess that makes me a semi-pro network marketer, too!
We all make recommendations to our network of friends and associates every day.
We’re all doing some kind of network marketing. It’s a fact of life.
Some of us are getting paid to do it.
Since you’re going to be making recommendations anyway, doesn’t it make sense to align yourself with a company that offers something you can personally believe in, refer a few friends, and make money in the process?
Before You Jump In: Do your research. Not all network marketing companies are the same. Like any other business, there are good and bad companies. The range of products and services is immense and covers everything from telecommunications to nutritional products, coffee, to internet access, and everything in between.
Find a company you can believe in with a product or service that you can truly get personally excited about. Share that product or service just like you do when you recommend a movie, a book, a game, a concert, a restaurant. Let people decide if they want to take your recommendation. And when they do, get a check!

When it comes to success in any network marketing business, there can be no denying that the top of your priority list should be prospecting.
Prospecting is term used to describe the act of seeking out new customers and/or distributors to join your network marketing business, whether as customers or fellow distributors.
Opinions on the best way to handle prospecting appear to be clearly divided between two camps:
Which of these two methods do you personally find to be most effective in your own mlm business?
Network marketing, Multi-Level marketing, MLM … these are all names used to describe a marketing structure used by companies as a part of their overall marketing strategy.
Companies will often choose a network marketing model to create a sales force via rewarding independent distributors for the sales they generate as well as the sales generated by other distributors they may refer to the company.
