This video is not only hilarious but serves as a great example of how to NOT do Internet Marketing. Take a quick watch and then read below for my thoughts:
What’s the lesson?
So many people I see start their process by trying to close the deal. This is a huge mistake.
Sure, the video is comedy but the basic principle applies. This is why I love running internet ads and directing my responses to a capture page.
When we run our ads, it’s a pretty obvious sign that we have something available. So, it’s pretty easy to understand the idea of “You gotta do something to get their attention.”. This is where our ads can be great ways to get attention.
When posting on social media, don’t just run one blatant ad after another. Share a success story. Share some tips you learned.
“You gotta do something to attract them”.
Your ad needs to be appealing. Your social media content needs to be appealing.
I watch a lot of people just start out with a sales pitch (trying to kiss the girl). I get friend requests on Facebook a lot. I’m usually pretty open to meeting new people. And I may be meeting someone that is already doing business with me. So, in many cases, I accept the friend request. But when the first or 2nd message is about how I need to visit their site and sign up, I quickly follow up with the “unfriend” request.
This is a great example of the opposite of how to do internet marketing.
Keep it simple.
Get their attention. Let them talk first. This can be a matter of them sending you a message, filling out your capture form, calling you, etc… depending on your particular process and call to action.
Get to know your prospects. Help them solve a problem.
Over time, you will be much more likely to close the deal as you become recognized as a reliable and credible authority in your field.Share on Facebook
