There are a number of factors that distinguish those who reach the top levels in network marketing and those who do not. One of those factors is branding.

What do I mean? When you look at network marketing leaders like Ray Higdon, Randy Gage, Eric Worre, Big Al, etc… they are all involved in network marketing. They are great trainers and mentors in the industry. But if you don’t know them, you would probably have to do some digging to find out what mlm company (or companies) they are working with.

Something else they all have in common (and you can see it on their web sites) is that they build their own lists. This is part of how they brand themselves and a big part of how and why you should brand yourself.

Have you ever heard of a network marketing company going out of business? We all have.

Now, imagine these two scenarios:

  1. You have to rebuild and you have no list. You are starting all over at step 1.

Brand yourself in your advertising. Most rookies run ads that are nothing more than the company name. On top of being completely ineffective, those ads are building the company brand but not your personal brand.

Brand yourself in your list building. Offer your tips on how you get results. You story may start out about how you are learning from another leader. That is perfectly fine. Share your results as you are following, learning, and getting results from the system you are learning.

You may have heard your own upline or trainers say something like:

“They buy you before they buy the company.”

This is 100% accurate. We get paid by the company when we move product. But it is our relationship with our team that creates excitement, enthusiasm and momentum. Before they ever make a decision about the company you are talking about, they decide whether or not they want to work with YOU.

So … Brand Yourself in your advertising, your presentations, your follow ups, etc..
